Green Bean Project 2025 Theme and Goals
Recently, I was sewing tablecloths for a women’s retreat here in Billings. As I was packing up the machine, a thought raced across my brain, “This machine has been serving the Lord for 15 years!” It’s the same machine that helped sew all those uniforms for the children in Kenya and opened the doors that led to what is now the Green Bean Project. And here it is, still going all these years later.
That got me to thinking about faithfulness. First about God’s faithfulness to us, and second about our need to remain faithful. This year has looked different (every year does, so I’m not sure why that surprises me). It has looked different from every other year, but also different than expected. I expected to be headed to Ukraine by spring, then maybe by fall. But the doors, for now, seem closed. This doesn’t mean they won’t reopen, but for now, we wait.
But God has opened other doors. In the fall, we were able to jumpstart the Backpacks for Kids program. It was smaller than expected, but it was a new beginning. Then we were able to help sponsor a retreat for Hannah House, a local recovery and addiction home for women. This was an opportunity for these women and their children to get away to the mountains and focus on Christ.
Now, it’s time for the Green Bean Project. As I consider this year’s theme, I just keep thinking about God’s faithfulness and the way He empowers us to keep on Loving Faithfully even when things are harder than expected, or different than planned, or not what we dreamed they would be. His grace and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives helps us love others, in particular, the fatherless and those caring for them, a manner that endures.
So that will be our theme this year: Loving Faithfully.
Now to the Green Bean Project 2025 goals!
Over the years, Forbid Them Not has sought to meet the practical needs of missionaries working with orphans. Through The Green Bean Project we have provided textbooks, school supplies, fabric, clothing, and small financial gifts to schools and children’s homes in Kenya and Asia. Several years ago, we added FTN’s local outreach and special needs fund to the project. Over the years, this ministry has provided food, tires, clothing, counsel, discipleship, and other assistance for multiple fatherless families. The last two years, we added another ministry ministering to the needs of Ukrainian women raising their children alone due to the war. This year we have both some heavy and some exciting opportunities in which to love others as God calls us to. Here are the needs and goals for 2025:
Kenya:
The ministry in Kenya has a roof to replace. The cost of this will be $2000. What a great opportunity to do something you could NEVER do here in the US – replace a roof at really great price!!!!
Central Asia:
The orphanage in Central Asia is still facing major medical expenses for one of their boys. I would like to be able to send them at least what we aimed for last year, around $3000.
FTN:
FTN truly has some financial needs right now. While our support has remained about the same, our expenses have not. Nearly every monthly expense on our list has increased. The Green Bean Project income we receive each year goes directly to those we serve. None of it goes to our General Fund. So, like every year, the Green Bean Project will help support our Special Needs account, but I’d also like to invite you to become a monthly partner. Monthly partners not only help keep a ministry going but also help us grow. So, this year, I’ve added a special link below for just that purpose.
All of this puts this year’s goal at $10,000. I believe God can do this and more!
The Green Bean Project gives you an opportunity to help, and the confidence that 100% of what you give will go to these ministries and their specific needs. (Learn More)

How To Give
The Green Bean Match ($1.15) came about during the first Green Bean Project, when the contents of a green, bean-shaped coin purse were donated to the project. Often, groups will make multiple Green Bean Matches (one for each member of the group or family). While this may seem a small investment, it adds up!
Other Amounts. Perhaps the Lord has put a specific amount on your heart or an amount has come in through a love offering at your church. This amount can be added manually here.
(Giving in someone else’s name? Just fill out that information in the special instructions section.)
Become a Monthly Partner. If you would like to partner with Forbid Them Not monthly, you can do so here. (Be sure to click the “Make this a Monthly Donation” button when setting it up.)
